Senior Gameplay Programmer with AI Emphasis

Essential Job Functions

The Senior Gameplay Programmer is primarily responsible for developing game rules and automated opponents for our line of strategy games. He/she will participate in defining the vision and "fun factor" for the games as well as implementation. The ideal candidate will provide technical guidance to programmers, associate programmers, designers and artists throughout the entire product development process. Responsibilities will also include ensuring that the end product meets pre-determined expectations. Solid C++ programming skills are a must.

What you'll do:

  • Architects and implements automated opponents for strategy games
  • Assists in architecting and implementing game mechanics and presentation
  • Constructs solutions to unforeseen design problems in a timely manner
  • Understands and follows a task schedule that is provided by the Lead
  • Coordinates with Lead to communicate scheduling and progress information
  • Guides and mentors junior engineers on the team - helps others grow
  • Applies strong problem-solving/debugging skills
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with management on both a project and studio level
  • Performs other similar or related duties as necessary

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of relevant development experience
  • Experience with a variety of modern AI techniques
  • Completed at least 2 game cycles from start to finish
  • Expert knowledge of C/C++
  • Strong 3D math experience
  • iOS and other mobile experience desired

Education/Certification/Licensing

  • Bachelor's (BS) degree from an accredited 4-year college or university or equivalent industry experience

Network Programmer

Essential Job Functions

The primary focus of the Network Programmer is to work with the Design and Programming teams to help expand our scalable server solution for hosting digital tabletop games. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and expand his/her knowledge of network concepts, backend databases, and tools. He/she will also need to be a strong communicator and meet pre-determined expectations and have solid C++ and object-oriented programming skills.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Network Architect and Design team to create and advance the online capabilities of our tabletop games
  • Aid in the planning and implementation of the network infrastructure
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary meetings
  • Ensure acceptable usage of coding standards, processes, pipelines, and tools. Tools and pipelines must be easy to use so a good sense of UX is important
  • Apply strong problem-solving/debugging skills
  • Work to improve stability and performance of code
  • Interact effectively with management on both a project and studio level

What we're looking for

  • Strong C/C++ and object-oriented programming skills
  • Experience writing tools in C# or MFC
  • Knowledge of packet handling (TCP/UDP/IP)
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL
  • Experience with web technology (PHP/HTML)
  • Some knowledge of network server and security issues
  • Knowledge of solid software engineering practices
  • Familiarity with implementing client/server and peer-to-peer architectures

Programmer

Essential Job Functions

The Programmer is responsible for helping to create game applications, including the user interface, game modes, and/or features that involve game play for projects that will be delivered on mobile and digital platforms. He/she will participate in defining the user experience and quality of the game as well as implementing it.
